Meet the Team

Alison Jacobsen

Associate Solicitor

Alison is a caring and compassionate family lawyer, driven to obtain positive outcomes for her clients and to help support families navigate the overwhelm, stress and vulnerability that accompanies parenting arrangements and property matters.

Alison commenced her professional legal career in 2004 working for boutique firms both in Sydney in Newcastle across multiple areas of law including Family Law, Conveyancing, Wills and Estates, and Personal Injury matters. She attained her Bachelor of Laws at the University of New England in 2014 and completed her Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the College of Law.

Alison has meticulous attention to detail which greatly assists clients in both parenting and complex property matters and has a depth of experience and understanding that cannot be taught. Resolving disputes through solution-focussed negotiations, Alison prioritises taking a commercial approach to the family law process, minimising costs and delays, seeking to achieve better outcomes for her clients.

When asked about working at Next Legal, Alison said she joined to work alongside a team that shares her passion for supporting the person behind the client, in a workplace that is dedicated to building strong team relationships based on mentoring, collaboration, consultation and adopting a technical mindset.

When not behind the computer screen, Alison enjoys spending quality time with her partner and children, days at the beach, and cheering from the sidelines supporting her children’s sporting and artistic interests.
